Starting out as a school of art, Brighton Uni has kept its free and creative spirit. It has grown exponentially since, and the subjects now taught here range from medicine to engineering, psychology to illustration, sport science to English literature.
University of Brighton’s ethos not only reflects their commitment to teaching but also by doing their part in advancing society forward – equality, sustainability and community partnerships being only a few of their commitments. It ranked second in the UK for sustainability with its award-winning sustainability campaign, c-change, which engages staff, students and members of the community in driving forward progress towards a fully sustainable university.
Facilities
Situated across four primary campuses in Brighton and Eastbourne, University of Brighton offers amazing study spaces and plenty of facilities that any Brighton student will love. Each campus has its own rich individual identity, created by the energy that students inevitably bring to this wonderful city.
If you’re living at our Brighton student accommodation, Hollingbury House, you’ll be only 10 minutes away from Uni of Brighton’s Moulsecoomb campus. This is a perfect location which allows you to enjoy extra sleep before those early morning lectures but remain close enough to the active student highstreet. It is the biggest campus providing students benefit from professional-standard equipment and great transport links to the city centre.
Facilities available on campus include study and social spaces, sporting facilities like gyms, astroturf pitches, basketball and badminton courts and climbing walls free for you to use.
You will also have access to four different libraries (one in each campus) with large collections of research materials and a team of staff ready to help find what you need. All libraries offer online support, quiet study spaces and collaborative areas for your group projects.
Student Union
If you decide to live at our private student accommodation in Brighton, you’ll also be close to Uni of Brighton Student Union. It’s the hub for Brighton students where you can meet new people, socialise and get involved with their active events calendar throughout the year.
Additionally, you can enhance your student life in Brighton by joining one (or a few!) of their 100 societies and sports clubs. Here you can get academic advice and support, and gain valuable employability skills by working and volunteering through the Union.
Awards
University of Brighton has received a number of awards including the Silver Award for Teaching Quality, proving how much Brighton students enjoy the learning environment the university has given them and this encourages future students to consider Brighton for their further studies.
The University has also been ranked 25th in the People and Planet University League 2019 out of the 154 universities and higher education institutions in the UK, in recognition to their commitment to sustainability.
