Leaving for university is a stressful time for both students and their parents. We understand how many questions are buzzing in your head about your child’s safety, well-being and how many hopes you have that their years at university will be the best time of their life.
However, you can rest assured that Abodus will be here for you and your child every step of the way.
We’ve seen many teary farewells and busy moving-in weekends, so let us talk you through what you can expect when checking into your student accommodation this September.student flats in Leeds, Bristol or somewhere else across the country.
Read on to learn all you need to know in our very own parents’ guide to university.
A Smooth Check-In
The start of the academic year, and all the logistics of how and when you can help your student move into their new home-away-from-home, can cause a few headaches.
However, we’re confident that we will be able to provide a relaxing and safe environment in which a broken box or a forgotten pillow will only make you giggle.
You’ll be able to book your check-in slot online before you arrive, so you can plan in advance and pick the best day for you and your family to help the new student settle in as stress-free as possible.
Additionally, if you’re worried about how long the check-in is going to take, you can send all the belongings to us in advance, and we will take them up to the room. All you need to do when you arrive then is unpack!
Keeping Your Student Home Safe
We know it’s vitally important for you to know that your son or daughter’s room and common areas will be spotlessly clean and sanitised as they move in. In fact, health and safety are always at the top of our priority list!
At the start of the semester one, our teams will be busy getting your room ready, and they will continue to look after it throughout the year.
We have an enhanced cleaning programme across all of our sites, paying particular attention to high-touch areas like lift buttons and door handles. We also have hand sanitiser stations in place, and our teams are trained in the many new ways of working to keep people safe.
Good To Know
Apart from enhanced cleaning measures, we make sure our sites are safe and secure, so you feel confident leaving your child to enjoy their time at university.
All of our properties have onsite security staff and digital entry systems, as well as individual locks on each and every room. Not only that, but we have CCTV in every home.
For most of our sites, an emergency contact number will also be provided when staff are not onsite, ensuring that our buildings are safe and secure.
Providing Great Student Experience for Your Child
Our goal is to ensure that our students have an amazing experience at university, even during this uncertain time.
Moving away from home and living independently can be stressful for anyone. If you think your child would benefit from some additional preparation before they move in this September, you can encourage them to think about ways to decorate their room to tackle feelings of homesickness.
We will also be offering our students a full and engaged calendar of events throughout the year, some of which will be in person and also online so that they can join in without leaving their room.
With all that has happened in recent years, we have truly realised the importance of flexibility, and we’re here to support you and make your experience the best it can be. We can make sure the start of the tenancy matches with your university start date so they begin at the same time.
For more information on our flexible booking options, check out Abodus Pledges.
We hope our parents’ guide to university has reassured you that we do everything we can to keep our residents safe, giving peace of mind to those who are entrusting us with their children. Your student will have the support and safety that they need when they choose to live with Abodus.
